Jagath & Basil deserve more than 5 stars…..they made us feel wanted !

After many different ideas tossed to & thro, Jagath came up with an excellent, & very suitable,( reasonably priced for pensioners) 15 day itinerary.
Our holiday started when we were met at Bandaranaike Airport by Jagath & Basil (our English speaking chauffeur) who quickly changed our currency & phone sim card for us in readiness for our fantastic adventure.
Our accommodation was luxurious…ranging from Luxury villas & resorts to tented camps.
Basil fitted in with our “quirks” & itinerary changes smiling all the time. His knowledge & outstanding gift of communication with everyone, made negotiation around the country safe & easy.
We visited several VERY impressive Temples, Polonnaruwa (medieval city), Spice gardens, Wood working factory, local restaurants & shops, plus elephant Orphanage & National Parks. Traveled by train from Kandy to Ella meeting the locals & enjoying the breathtaking countryside & vistas.
We went whale watching (great photos) & visited a Turtle Hatchery (the work done there is amazing).
Every part of our journey was fantastic, BUT, Mahoora Tented Camp Yala stood out.
We had 3 nights of unbelievably helpful & friendly staff, authentic Sri Lankan silver service dinners around a campfire under the stars, 5 star tents, & game drives with amazing animals & birds sighted….WOW!
Our final day was spent relaxing by the beach, swimming in the pool & dreaming of a return to Sri Lanka…of which the people are its greatest asset.
Jagath & Basil deserve more than 5 stars…..they made us feel wanted.
