My partner and I fully enjoyed our 11-day vacation in Sri Lanka, thanks to Jagath, Basil and Shayne for turning our dream to reality. It was a perfect holiday with a good balance of heritage, trekking, wildlife and beach. We just provided a basic list of places we wanted to visit and things we wanted to do, budget and duration to the team, and we were so impressed by the quick turnaround of a detailed proposed itinerary for our review. We are on our last day of a 10 days holiday in this magnificent country. Special thanks to Jagath and our sweet driver guide Nihal for their great hospitality. From the start the planning was smooth and Jagath was very prompt in reverting with a suggested itinerary based on our time and places we wanted to see. He was also very accommodating with the numerous changes we wanted to include like scenic train rides through tea plantation and along the coast from Galle to Colombo. We were also particularly impressed that Jagath met us both on arrival and at our departure at the airport albeit the odd hours. Our driver Nihal was always full of energy and made sure that we saw and bought what we wanted, surprising us with samosa and fruit juice for our train rides, always making the extra effort to make sure we are okay. Thanks for making our holiday a memorable one. The day we were put in touch with Jagath, he sent us a core itinerary which we scrutinised and then adjusted to our needs and interests. Jagath was very responsive and put together an excellent trip. As an additional bonus, Jagath managed to locate Ken’s Grandfather’s grave in Colombo which few of our extended family had seen. Our family in Australia are very grateful for Jagath’s effort. We asked for an experienced guide/driver of about our age, with a good command of English and a sense of humour. Mike the Magician as we called him, had an excellent knowledge of his country, its history, customs and places of interest. Mike always knew how to find the places we needed to go to, locate good local restaurants, toilets, shops and knew where to get a good bargain. We had lots of laughs with Mike, sometimes at each other’s expense, all of which made our trip/holiday an unforgettable experience. His driving skills were very excellent.
We visited 3 National Parks, explored historical places and old cities, trekked Horton’s Plains, enjoyed the train trip through the highlands and had a few days of rest in a paradise by the sea.
Jagath’s choice of hotels was very good.

My family and I total six just completed a brilliant 12 days vacation in Sri Lanka. Traveling clock wise starting at Negombo and ending in Galle. I had stumbled on Luxurious Sri Lanka after searching for a tour guide on Trip Me. The MD Jagathsingh is a most service oriented businessman, ever obliging and flexible with our requested changes along the way. Jagathsingh had created a great itinerary covering all aspects of the wonders of the blessed country of Sri Lanka. My kids learnt so much during this vacation: to observe and respect culture, religion and the customs of the country we visit. Through the meals, the foods, the climbing and even the coconut stalls stops, we all had a wonderful time. Thanks mostly to Mr Basil R, whose English proficiency although not extremely high, has a good working level and understands the needs of his guests, drives most skilfully and obliges the kids who are often looking for western meals , preferring these to local Sri Lankan rice and curries. I worked with Jagathsingh on the itinerary over three months to and fro by emails, but the mutual patience and creativity bore fruits. Stupendous natural beauty of God given sand and seas, elevated tea plantations and the wild life, were all harnessed and captured in one fell swoop. My family has asked that I thanked both Jagathsingh and Basil for their complementary personal touches without which our vacation could not have been as awesome. May I share some great moments captured on our cameras. Highly recommended if you want a customized tour and point to point precision without the unnecessary shopping stops.

Great holiday and came home very happy

Just spent a 9 day trip to Sri Lanka with luxurious Sri Lanka . Jagathsingh made sure in that time we saw almost everything and didn’t have a minute off . He met us at the airport and dropped us off both in the middle of the night even staying till we checked in . He is thoughtful and empathetic and at one point booked us into a glamping safari but when dusk fell and there were insects all over the place and our daughter had a fit and couldn’t cope we rang him . Within minutes our guide mike turned up and took us to a 5 * hotel no questions asked. This is what really did it for us -no fights . I really feel that as so much was packed in it was too short a trip I would hope to return in future as some of the places we stayed were beyond belief in beauty. Lovely personalized service but do it only when one can take a longer holiday . Mike our guide and driver Tisza was caring and bought us lots of things to try.

We spent 14 days travelling with our Guide/Drive (Mike) all around Sri Lanka and had a wonderful experience.While the country was beautiful the care and service we got from Mike was great. Nothing was ever too much to ask and though we travelled daily, Mike was always happy, and knowledgeable, to show us more or shorten the day as we asked.

Luxurious Sri Lanka provided us with an unforgettable three weeks in this wonderful country! We appreciated so much working together with Jagath in carefully planning our trip in advance and being met by him personally at the airport in Colombo in middle of the night. Much appreciation is also due to our wonderful driver and guide Basil, who awed us by mastering a variety of strenuous roads and terrain. But even greater thanks to Basil for sharing so much of his love and knowledge about the wildlife, flora and fauna of his country, as well as it history and culture. We learned so much from you, Basil, and you certainly enriched our whole Sri Lankan experience. We spent over two weeks touring Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Kandy and Ella and the National Parks Mihintale and Yala, among many other places. We were so impressed by great diversity of this impressive landscapes from jungles, to mountains to pristine seashore. We loved the elephants in Mihintale, the archeology and history of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, the fresco paintings at Dambulla and Sigiriya. Additional high points were the the visit to Thiriyaya and the oldest Buddhist stupa Girihandu Sera, the various ruins in the cultural triangle , the mountain views outside of Ella, and the impressive expanse of unbuilt beaches. We concluded our trip with a relaxing five days at the beach and a final tour tour through Colombo with Jagath before heading to the airport and home.

An experience that was made even more worth remembering

Just came back from beautiful Sri Lanka – an experience that was made even more worth remembering because of the great planning and support provided by Jagath and his team from Luxurious Sri Lanka. ‘The Weir House’ and ‘Calamansi Cove’ were perfect for the 3 of us (including my 15 month old daughter).

It was a 5 star experience

Where to start. We are heading home (2 adults and 2 children aged 11 & 13) after a fabulous 2 weeks. We were looked after from the second we arrived until the very last minute we left. The hotels where breathtaking, the scenery stunning and our personal driver (Basil) was utterly perfect. It was a 5 star experience. We can’t thank you enough Jagath. We took a sea plane from Colombo south and started at turtle bay hotel (idyllic location and excellent service). Whale watching in Melissa. Then to Yalla – jetwing – awesome swimming pool. Then Ella – 98 acres – set in a tea plantation on the top of a mountain. Then to Kandy. We saw elephants, monkeys, spice gardens, temples and all sorts of wildlife. A truly enchanting holiday.

We strongly recommend Luxurious Sri Lanka for a wonderful custom tour

Our family thoroughly enjoyed nearly 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. We are a retired couple and our working daughter joined us for most of it. Jagath had consulted with us thoughtfully and seriously and had prepared very well before our trip. During our holiday he kept in regular touch to ensure that everything flowed to our satisfaction, and made corrective changes to achieve any possible improvements. He certainly exceeded our high expectations. From the time I first contacted Jagathsingh Jayasingh – Managing Director of Luxurious Sri Lanka tours – he generated confidence. We planned with him for a few months via emails and phone. Ultimately we arrived in January to meet him and Basil his great driver/guide. Basil drove us all around in a very comfortable van and explained all we saw with very good English. Most of the properties that Jagath booked for us were boutique hotels with very few rooms. The rooms were large and luxurious and serviced by excellent staff. In some places we effectively had our own private chef to make all meals to our liking. The country is interesting and beautiful and we toured at our own pace. Generally we stayed in a hotel for 3 nights and saw all the surrounding sights, then moved on to another hotel, so that we were not rushing, unpacking and repacking every day. It also meant we could benefit from the services and views in each place. At one point when we decided to change locations a day earlier, Jagath rearranged it immediately. We strongly recommend Luxurious Sri Lanka for a wonderful custom tour. Judy and I enjoyed a marvellous time touring Sri Lanka for the first time with Luxurious Sri Lanka. The greeting at the airport was very welcoming and warm. Our chauffeur and guide Hema did a magical job keeping us on track as well as safe on some narrow and busy roads. Hema is very knowledgeable, friendly, flexible and eager to please. The vehicle was an immaculately maintained clean, comfortable late model people mover. Having wifi on board was an added bonus. Working with Jagath Judy was able to customize our trip regarding our desired itinerary and accommodations preferences. All the hotels selected were top notch. We have zero reservations recommending Luxurious Sri Lanka, they are a class act.

The local contact in Sri Lanka was very prompt at replying to emails and had a comprehensive itinerary to us that was adapted to suit the needs of our family. The accommodation was perfect for us and the sights recommended were also great. Having the ability to change our itinerary at a moments notice was also fantastic. Not sure if we got lucky, but our driver Basil was amazing. He would source out vegetarian options for our daughter, help us change money, and kept us laughing with his humour. He was very knowledgeable about Sri Lankan history, we miss his smiling face.

It’s taken me a while to write this review but I cannot say enough positive things about Jagasithsingh and the wonderful service he provided for us on our (too) short tour of Sri Lanka. He made sure that each step of the way we had great hotels and wonderful sightseeing tours. We had a beautiful, comfortable van and our driver and guide Basil was entertaining and knew the roads well. BUT do be aware that Sri Lanka offers so much to see it’s not possible to see so many places at once and truly enjoy all that this wonderful country offers. So conclusion, for a worry-free holiday book with Luxurious Sri Lanka, build in enough time to enjoy the wonderful hotels and the savor the country and the food. Thanks again Jagathsingh!!! Also, warrants a second, third perhaps a fourth trip back 😁

Jagath & Basil deserve more than 5 stars…..they made us feel wanted !

After many different ideas tossed to & thro, Jagath came up with an excellent, & very suitable,( reasonably priced for pensioners) 15 day itinerary.
Our holiday started when we were met at Bandaranaike Airport by Jagath & Basil (our English speaking chauffeur) who quickly changed our currency & phone sim card for us in readiness for our fantastic adventure.
Our accommodation was luxurious…ranging from Luxury villas & resorts to tented camps.
Basil fitted in with our “quirks” & itinerary changes smiling all the time. His knowledge & outstanding gift of communication with everyone, made negotiation around the country safe & easy.
We visited several VERY impressive Temples, Polonnaruwa (medieval city), Spice gardens, Wood working factory, local restaurants & shops, plus elephant Orphanage & National Parks. Traveled by train from Kandy to Ella meeting the locals & enjoying the breathtaking countryside & vistas.
We went whale watching (great photos) & visited a Turtle Hatchery (the work done there is amazing).
Every part of our journey was fantastic, BUT, Mahoora Tented Camp Yala stood out.
We had 3 nights of unbelievably helpful & friendly staff, authentic Sri Lankan silver service dinners around a campfire under the stars, 5 star tents, & game drives with amazing animals & birds sighted….WOW!
Our final day was spent relaxing by the beach, swimming in the pool & dreaming of a return to Sri Lanka…of which the people are its greatest asset.
Jagath & Basil deserve more than 5 stars…..they made us feel wanted.

I have travelled over the world, to all 7 continents. I write this only to emphasise my comment that this has been the most superbly organised tour I have ever experienced.
Jagath has an incredible eye for detail and monitors your tour from Colombo.
Has traffic caused you to just miss out on that tour to Geoffrey Bawa’s estate in Bentota? Let Jagath make a phone call for you. He even rang us with best wishes on Australia Day.
I have no doubt our driver and Jagath spoke each night about us, and how to improve the itinerary as we made changes in situ.
Ron from Trip.me in Berlin even contacted me personally after a small glitch with the final payment link.
Our car was brand new and extremely comfortable. The boutique accommodation was beautiful and extremely eclectic (jungle camp tent, tea plantation bungalow, eco-beach luxury, surreal movie-set jungle fortress and 18th century restored Dutch mansion to mention a few).
Now for the “gem”. Our driver, Basil. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t have done for us. He was our experienced driver (very important on Sri Lankan roads), information guide, advisor, protector, friend. After a sad incident and knowing my penchant for passionfruit, he asked for some to be freshly picked from a local farm to brighten me up. It was almost as though Basil could read your mind! Or perhaps he has so much experience in this field, his empathy and understanding just smooth potential trouble spots away. It was sad to leave him!
Would I organise travel with this company again? I have a daughter working in Sri Lanka for 2 years and there is still more to see.
Would I organise another tour with Trip.me?
Where are we going next? The world is an amazing place!

Just returned home from a 14 trip around Sri Lanka. Had an amazing experience with relaxing days on the beach, safaris seeing leopards and elephants, amazing scenery through the high country and and incredible historical sights. Jagath was fantastic in every way from the initial contact via email right up until leaving to head home. Nothing was too much trouble and he really went out of his way to make sure our trip went smoothly. Went for a 9D7N trip during December and was really satisfied by the tour agency’s hospitality and professional arrangement. Sri Lanka is indeed an immensely beautiful country with very diverse attractions in spite of its small size. Jagath (plus the driver Mr Basil) was very accommodating – given that I am a solo traveler – and I do appreciate that he was constantly checking on me during the trip itself.
